KCGDS_DollisSanctuary

So excited to create an inspiring and relaxing sanctuary garden which flows from my clients’ recently renovated interior. My design features a bespoke raised decking terrace which steps down to an outdoor room, ‘the sunspot sanctuary’ - a dining space surrounded by planting. I wanted to encourage my client to step out into the garden, making the most of the whole space. A previously unused section at the rear, now becomes a woodland sanctuary complete with fire burner.

The materials colour palette is in light and natural tones, in a fresh and contemporary style, which compliments this Edwardian home. Materials favour sustainability and durability, with a focus on natural permeable materials which aid drainage.

All the existing mature trees and in-ground planting will be retained, with the clients’ many potted plants reworked in the new design. New plants will be incorporated with year round interest, following the mantra ‘right plant, right place’, with new plants specially selected for sun or shady areas. New perennials in pops of orange, purple, yellow and whites will provide beautiful highlights from April-September. These perennials are loved by pollinators, attracting more bees and butterflies into the sanctuary.
